Amazon Prime has a pretty good documentary selection. And since Prime is cheaper than Netflix it means less money going to Hollywood.

Jesus when are Americans going to realize corporations serve their own interests and nothing else.

Of course, like every other corporation, they strive to “free” up competition so they can rise to the top and then close the means so no one can follow.

They do know this, but they all think themselves the next CEO.

[–] LoyalStatist 1 points (+2|-1) 18 hours ago

Yep, and the means to that end is the gubbermint.

We do know, how would you handle a corrupt government with the worlds largest military backing it up?

When are people going to realize that net neutrality was a corporation trying to get an advantage on smaller corporations. They abused the net infrestructure and the market made them pay a price for it. Then they wanted rules that would protect them from that. The free market requires that you play at least somewhat reasonably with everyone effected by your decisions or pay. It also would have been a subsidy for their customers. If you are one of their customers that’s great in a selfish way to require every co-customer to pay for the type of use you use but does that make it honest to deny someone who wants cheaper internet to have it. A good free market considers everyone’s needs and has people pay proportionally. What if you’re me and you only want to move text over ssh and want your isp to be able to cut costs in every other way. That is use the internet for what it was designed for. Netflix introduced a fundamentally different use than it was initially designed for and the companies that make money on that should help cover the infrastructure costs. By paying comcast they were helping to invest in the network being able to do this on a larger scale where everyone could be a cable cutter. Seeing as Netflix is the primary to gain from that we should tap every dollar we can from them to build that. If netflix pays a static amount per month that amount annuitized can be sunk into infrastructure all at once to make the net you’re asking for. Comcast likely has a really low internal discount rate because they don’t lend a lot of money are a monopoly unlikely to disappear. That means that’s a lot of money for infrastructure.

Net neutrality is for people who have conclusions they want to come to and who stick their head in the sand. Corporations are evil and we want lots of rules. Sure, corporations are evil but we want a free market and btw, it’s a corporation that’s getting you to argue for a non-free market that will benefit them. This also raises the minimum cost you could pay (and thereby anything without ridiculous restrictions will have price compression and all will go up).

I agree completely. If someone is worried about a giant company having too much power, that’s what the anti-trust laws are for. These are the laws that smashed AT&T to dust, and they could reduce your hated cableco to dust too.

If a company like Comcast advertises total Internet access and then cuts off Netflix, that’s why we have laws about fraud, and about tortious interference in a contract. We don’t need 10,000 pages of unconstitutional regulations. The British contract laws designed in 1700 A.D. will get the job done.

You know how “network neutrality” regulations got passed? The Chicago Nigger sent gangsters to attack the chairman of the FCC a few hours before the vote.

Who uses Netflix anyway? KODI all the way.

[–] common_sense 4 points (+11|-7) 19 hours ago

Those of us who aren’t pieces of shit and like to support content creators.

[–] raewsitaogenas 6 points (+14|-8) 19 hours ago

I think you’re a piece of shit for supporting jew content creators.

[–] LoyalStatist 2 points (+3|-1) 18 hours ago

I have no problem paying for something when the content producers are small time, but I’ll be damned if I have to fund Hollywood’s statist agenda and all the libtards associated with it.

[–] dave09 0 points (+0|-0) 5 hours ago

go fuck yourself you piece of propaganda filth

[–] Owoc 0 points (+0|-0) 6 hours ago

Supporting content creators is good. Supporting a service that treats its customers the way Netflix does is not.

[–] Sanshou 1 points (+1|-0) 11 hours ago

lol I barely even watch anything on Kodi/exodous anymore either tv/movie content has become so crappy, although Legion has peaked my interest but it’s almost over so it’s likely back to hobbies again.

[–] aria_taint 0 points (+0|-0) 3 hours ago

You can find some good documentaries though. I haven’t watched network TV in I don’t know how long!

[–] Ghetto_Shitlord -1 points (+5|-6) 19 hours ago

Those of us that want the people that make the entertainment we like to get paid for their work.

[–] LlamaMan 2 points (+4|-2) 18 hours ago

They get paid easily 10x more than the average person. You are using your hard earned money to fund their easily earned money to create shit content. Moralfag.

It’s good to pay the content creators. It’s not good to pay the malicious middle man that Netflix is.

Sorry captain virtue.

Why archive TechDirt?

[–] lbruiser [S] 5 points (+5|-0) 18 hours ago

I archive all my posts. Some people cannot get to them due to firewall issues and archive isn’t blocked for them.

[–] Zenogias 2 points (+7|-5) 20 hours ago

*Now that it’s been bought by Soros

[–] DeltaBravoTango 2 points (+6|-4) 20 hours ago

I don’t think that owning a fraction of a percent of the company would really matter.

[–] InterDigitated 1 points (+1|-0) 17 hours ago  (edited 17 hours ago)

This is always the case.
Once you get big enough, you have too many investor interests, the CEO can only operate within the boundaries defined by this which are the same for all companies. Comply or be replaced. Money is king. So on to the next underdog with scruples, we’ll feed it until it too becomes a monstrosity of greed and mediocrity.

[–] Sword-and-Shield 0 points (+0|-0) 5 hours ago

So hipsters weren’t all that wrong when they say that everything that becomes big turns to shit. Also, this is why competition is always needed, I’ve been saying this for a long time, when something gets too big I usually want to hop into an alternative platform/service. I don’t like single platform control.

What happen to all those white people who said they were canceling there subscription? Were they just kidding??

I mean I’m white, but I never had a subscription to cancel.

[–] Nlaitze 0 points (+0|-0) 15 hours ago

Yify.tv and Couchtuner.ag has everything and then some. Just make sure you have Adblocker plus installed, unless you want a screen full of naked Asian women in front of your family :).

Just like every successful company that once took a stand for rights. If a big, successful company is taking a stand for rights…it’s either fake and only to garner consumer support, or because their revenue would be directly affected.

[–] 1moar 0 points (+0|-0) 18 hours ago

Cancelling anyway, fuck em…better shit to do.

[–] LostandFound 0 points (+0|-0) 19 hours ago

Soros does not like a level playing field

[–] Mr_Quagmire 0 points (+0|-0) 19 hours ago

Well they’ll probably get a chance to test out their new stance on Net Neutrality soon: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2017/03/senate-puts-isp-profits-over-your-privacy
